THE MAIN BOTANIC GARDENS
The main botanic gardens is likened to a mini rainforest and  has incorporated an Aboriginal food plant section. Tall trees and palms hugged with  lianas and tropical climbers, orchids, bromeliads and ferns.

Gondwanan heritage
The Wet Tropics contains several such spots  which house our Gondwanan Heritage.
The evolution of the Wet Tropics flora can be traced from 415 million years ago  The separation of Australia from Gondwana and its 30 million year isolation resulted in small pockets of Gondwanan plants becoming isolated.

THE CENTENARY LAKES
Centenary Lakes and the Botanic Gardens are separated by a boardwalk through picturesque  lowland swamp forest and melaleuca wetlands, and consist of the Freshwater lake.
Both Lakes house a BBQ and picnic shelter  well equipped children's play grounds.

MT. WHITFIELD CONSERVATION PARK
